16 February 2010 Dear Cllr O'Brien, Abnormal load deliveries to Kemsley Substation in Sittingbourne I am writing to inform you that a series of large deliveries are being made to Kemsley Substation in Sittingbourne over the weekends of Friday, 19 through to Monday, 22 February and again between Saturday 27 February and Monday, 1 March. The main vehicles, which are 75 metres in length, will be accompanied by a police escort and a rolling road closure will be in place. They will depart from Chatham Docks and take the following route to Kemsley Substation: Pier Road - Yokosuka Way - Ito Way - A2 (East) - Hoath Way A278 - M2 Jct 4 - M2 Jct 3 - Bluebell Hill A229 - M20 Jct 6 - M20 Jct 7 - A249 (North) - Shepway Way Crossing roundabout - A249 (South) - Grovehurst Road – Grovehurst Avenue - Ypres Drive - Kemsley Substation To support these deliveries (Old) Sheppey Way, north of Iwade, will be closed from Friday 19, February at 9.00am until Monday, 1 March at 4.00pm. We have asked residents of Kemsley village to keep the route clear to enable the large vehicles to pass through safely. The community relations team will be on hand while the deliveries are being made to provide assistance to residents and motorists. There will be further deliveries of this size in April.
