Making a difference to the people of Rainham
Cllr Rehman Chishti
Rehman, has lived in Gillingham and Rainham for most of his life, having attended Richmond Infant School, Napier Primary School, Fort Luton High School for boys and Sixth forms at Rainham Mark Grammar School, and Chatham Grammar School for Girls (Mixed Sixth form). Rehman was a School Governor at Richmond Infant School, and for the past seven years he has sat on the governing body of Chatham Grammar School for Girls. Rehman is the Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and is also the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Gillingham and Rainham
After completing a Law degree at the University of Wales Aberystwyth, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincolns Inn, in 2000. Today he works in London as a Barrister.
An enthusiastic sportsman, he captained Hempstead youth cricket team, within the constituency, which lead him to represent Medway and Kent Schools at cricket. He is a keen runner, having run, Reading, Isle of Wight, and Jersey Half marathons for local charities, and St Margaret’s Church Rainham.

Cllr Barry Kemp
Barry Kemp has strong roots with Rainham with his family having lived locally for 200 years. Barry has lived in Rainham Central for most of his life and is married to Joyce.
Although Barry has now retired from full time teaching, his experiences as a teacher, both locally and in Gravesend, have made him ideally suited to recognising the concerns of children, young people and their parents.
Barry is the Organist and Choirmaster at St Margaret’s Parish Church in Rainham, a position he has held since 1985. He serves on the Parochial Church Council and is an active member of the Heritage Committee which has raised funds for repair to the church building. Barry is Deputy Mayor for 2009/2010 and is also Vice Chairman of the Children and Adults Overview and Scrutiny Committee and a member of the Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee

Cllr Mike O'Brien
Mike, married to his wife Sheila, has two children and six grandchildren and has lived in Rainham Central since 1971 and is a former Insurance Broker with an Insurance Brokerage in Station Road,Rainham for many years.
Mike has had over twenty years experience as both a Gillingham Borough Councillor and also as Kent County Councillor and is keenly aware of the issues facing the local community, a community that he is determined to serve to the best of his ability.
Mike is Chairman of the Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee, a member of the Planning Committee, the Standards Committee, Business Support Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Licencing Committee and a member of the Corporate Parenting Board. Mike is also a member of the Members Development Advisory Group which is responsible for overseeing training for Elected Members of all facets of Local Government. Mike is a Justice of the Peace and has also served as School Governor on many local schools in the area, in particular he was Chair of Governors of Skinner Street Infant and Primary School in Gillingham for nearly twenty years and is currently the LEA Governor at St Margarets Infant School in Orchard Street.
